I'm very excited to have done my hair finally and gotten rid of wigs for good. The story is, a couple years ago I had dredlocks which attached to long braid extensions, and it was unique and pretty but I found the dredlocks very hard to take care of and unmanageable. So, I was forced to shave my head in order to make a change. The bald look really didn't appeal and I wanted something more glamorous than really short hair, so I started wearing wigs. After experimenting with colors, I found I liked the platinum blonde look a lot. I was surprised how flattering this color was. I realized then for the first time in my life that hair could be a huge fantasy. This inspired me so much to take the plunge and get my hair lightened to white once it's long enough. This was my first time ever having an expensive hair appointment like that, and it wasn't easy to manifest but it was well worth it. I couldn't be happier with the change. When I have more money, I would love to also get some rainbowy highlights too.
As you can see if you look closely at the picture, I've added some extensions to extend the length. The longer pieces that trail down are the extensions. They are called a halo extension — they attach by a string and I just put them in my hair for a while then take them out at any time. In the normal way that it comes, they look really tacky and fake — but by cutting them into wispy various lengths, I've found they look natural and this creates the fantasy I've wanted for my hair. When you see how it looks at shoulder length without the extensions, I think you might agree it's entirely cute, but nowhere near as sexy. I was blown away by the result in the end.
By the time I was ready to have my hair done, I can't tell you how sick and tired I was of wearing wigs. Wigs are not wrong — they are in fashion and it's considered very fancy — but I must say it's uncomfortable and can have a really tacky feel when you're wearing it. To look at it, I think it's not a problem — but to wear it every day and always see it, I assure you it can't always satisfy every hair desire. It's a joy to now know that people can run their fingers through my hair, push my bangs back on my face without bothering me, and messy hair looks normal messy, not disaster messy now.
Also, I've had a big success with styling my hair using a styling tool called a blow comb. I've never used a blow comb before and simply had no idea what it's about. My hair stylist recommended it to me as an option, and I was amazed by the results. I used to think I just had bad, damaged, naturally frizzy hair. But now I've realized my hair is healthy, but I just needed to style it. The blow comb was around $70, and I'd say it was worth the price just for the bangs alone, how perfect it makes my bangs look. But for the entire head of hair, it effortlessly and quickly dries my hair while turning it into this soft, silky, shiny flow that looks like the type of person I thought I'd never be — someone with really naturally lovely hair.
I was never a glamorous person until later in life. Only in later years of my life have I actually gotten serious about trying to learn makeup and hair. I feel like a novice, but I think I've achieved a magically beautiful look — better than ever before. It's ironic that as I get older and reach my 40's, I look so much nicer than in my 20's. I'd say this is all the result of modelling. Modelling lingerie started out as a casual thing just for a bit of girly fun, but started to become a serious passion as I looked up to my favourite stars like Dita Von Teese. Through their influence, I started to realize it would be fun to become a pinup model like them — but I decided to do things in a different creative way. I'm not really a pinup girl so much as an artist, but I am inspired by the glam of vintage pinups and sweethearts, as well as other fantastic American lingerie models that I follow.
